Special Programs

Special Programs 

Special Programs are usually offered by clubs and usually offer a award when completed. These programs are optional and require a fee. You use the same stamps that you use for your Event and Distance books for those walks that qualify for the special program. The programs, when available, will be shown on this page.  There are two Special Programs shown on this page, Walking with Woody is a California Only special Program and University If your California club has a Special Program, please let me know and we can see if it can be added to our site. Walking with Woody (California Only)

This program is for anyone (member or not) who walks for credit and who wants to explore California. Take the initial of the city you are walking in (California only) and spell out “Sacramento Walking Sticks” to get the patch above. Send a check or money order for $10 payable to either “SWS” or “Sacramento Walking Sticks” and send it to: Tammi Kerch Attn: Sacramento Walking Sticks 2333 Coffeberry Road West Sacramento CA 95691-4558 Include your nameaddresse-mail address, and phone number along with your check. The book you receive will have a complete listing of all the rules for this special program. University Walkin’ (Pacific Region)

This program is being hosted by the Central Coast Beach Boardwalkers and covers the Pacific Region of AVA.  The Pacific Region covers California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii.  A Unique program.   The program runs now through 12/31/2024.  You complete walks that set foot on a college campus offering a 4-year degree.  They have a list of qualifying walks and the link can be found on their application for the program here.  Instead of a patch they are offering for their reward a full color, metal bookmark with tassel and personalized “diploma”.
